Creamy Garlic Chicken with Gravy

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon garlic, minced
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon mustard (optional, for depth of flavor)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  1. Prepare the Chicken: Season the chicken breasts on both sides with salt and pepper.
  2. Sear the Chicken: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chicken breasts and cook for 5-7 minutes on each side, until golden brown and cooked through. Remove chicken from skillet and set aside.
  3. Make the Gravy:
    • In the same skillet, add butter and minced garlic. Sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
    • Pour in the chicken broth and scrape up any bits from the bottom of the pan.
    • Stir in heavy cream and mustard. Simmer for 3-5 minutes until the gravy thickens.
  4. Combine: Return the chicken breasts to the skillet, spooning the gravy over the top.
  5. Serve: Garnish with fresh parsley and serve warm with mashed potatoes or rice.

  • For extra flavor, add mushrooms or caramelized onions to the gravy.
  • Adjust the gravy’s thickness by adding a little cornstarch slurry (mix 1 teaspoon cornstarch with 1 tablespoon water) if you prefer a thicker consistency.
